A foundation of engagement

A search of "#mormon" on Google+ reveals a stream full of posts with very little engagement. I think this is a little depressing. It's not that good Mormons and others aren't sharing great content, it's that no one is finding it, liking it, or caring about it. I do not like this. Not one bit. The purpose of this post is to organize a group of dedicated people who will commit to engaging with other Mormons on Google+.

I created a notification circle which includes everyone who asked to be added to the Mormon+ Project. This means that if you are part of the project and you post anything on Google+, I will get a notification. But that is not all...

*I commit to engage with every post from this circle for at least one week. I'd like to ask you to do the same.

As I +1, comment on, and share posts from other project members, I hope I will get to know them better. As our relationships grow (or don't grow), I can add them to other relevant circles or remove them as needed, all while promoting content shared by people also dedicated to sharing light.

I hope the results of this activity are at least twofold for you. First, I want you to get excited about meeting other Mormons on Google+. Second, I want you to experience the excitement of people engaging with content that you post and share. Creating a notification circle and committing to engage with the content shared there is a big deal. It will cause you to get to know others. The more people who commit and participate, the more engagement everyone will get on their own posts.

Remember, the circle I've shared below is a place to start. With time, you should freely modify the members of your notification circle, refining it as your own relationships develop.

I really believe you can engage with any post. Don't have time to do much, but want to acknowledge that you saw it? +1. Nothing says you can't leave a comment disagreeing with a post, so long as it's civil and respectful. Love a striking image or a longer post you actually took the time to read? Share it and say why. I look forward to doing all of these with the posts I see from you this week!

What should you do next?
