So many people ask me what I do for a living. It's often a polite thing to ask when meeting people in a social setting. Most haven't heard of localization, so for a long time I simply replied, "I'm in translation." That's a common enough idea that people generally nod, say, "That's nice," and continue the conversation. In many cases, I prefer that reaction. It's clean, concise, and I don't have to drone on about something they don't actually care about, but were simply asking to be nice.
But every once in a while, someone really wants to know. I enjoy my job, and I find it extremely interesting and rewarding.
