Writing badly is greater than not writing at all

A few days ago I got really excited about the idea of daily blogging. I didn't commit to it...just got infatuated with the idea.

As I moved through my day, I found ideas popping into my head left and right about what to write about. That encouraged me, but I didn't have a place to put these ideas. Many were lost. Some ended up in my Todoist inbox. Others in Apple Notes.

With my current commitments and schedule, I doubt I'll be able to fully flesh out these ideas as they come to me. But that doesn't need to stop me from writing. And it does need I'll need a better way to capture them.

For the time being, the success parameter for my blogging is hitting publish on a new post. It's a low bar, but I have to start somewhere.

It reminds me a bit of a concept from Zettlekasten, which is that your notes (in this case, my blog posts) are a conversation partner. They are not essays or complex arguments.

Thinking of my blog as a conversation partner takes off the pressure to create polished writing. Polished writing takes a lot more time and effort and deep work.
