Today I read in Luke 2 about how the shepherds reacted after they visited the newborn Jesus Christ and his parents.
First, they went quickly to see the baby Jesus. Then, they spread the word.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
I couldn’t help but compare my own reaction to that of the shepherds. I have at my disposal many ways to “come and see” the Christ. I can read about him in the scriptures or learn about him from prophets. But how can I spread the word the way those shepherds did?
As I prayed tonight about what I’d read, the thought occurred to me that one way I could do this would be to write my beliefs down for others to find. I know the internet is a crowded place, and that few if any will ever take an interest in my professions of belief and stories of faith.
But the shepherds weren’t publishing moguls, either. They just told whomever would listen. I guess that’s what I’d like to do, as well.
