Alright, the time has come! Yesterday our group assigned roles for our first "start to finish" localization project. Our group consists of a project manager, an account manager, a localization engineer, and three translators. My role for this particular project is that of localization engineer.
My first task was to take the 3 source web pages and link them together to form a complete site in English.
It certainly isn't much by way of fancy coding, but it was nice to understand the relationship between each page and the importance of making sure all of the links point to the correct location.
Now that the site is complete in English, we'll upload the files into WorldServer. If it works the first time, my job will be fairly easy; if WorldServer doesn't parse the javascript portion of the site, I'll get to learn a lot more than I originally planned. I'm perfectly fine with that, of course, because it will develop my most important skill--figuring stuff out.
