The beginning of this Fall found me at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. I’ve just commenced my studies here and am a candidate for a master’s degree in Translation and Localization Management. They tell me it’s the only program of its kind, and I’m glad to be here.

My background is in Russian language and literature, but I have a passion for technology and working with people, too. So I kind of stumbled into the world of localization by looking for a degree program that combines what I love: language, technology, and people. I suppose this is as close as it gets!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned so far from class and from speaking with localization professionals, it’s that localization is a relatively new and rapidly developing industry. I want to understand it as much as possible while I make the transition from student to professional. This site will help me synthesize what I learn, network with other professionals, and maybe even advance new ideas.
