Winter break

Spring semester doesn't begin until the end of January, which gives me a few weeks to spend on some less academic endeavors. So what does this grad student do for fun in his spare time?

Read - I love reading, but rarely make time for it while school is in session. I'm currently reading several books including Victor Hugo's Les Miserables and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.

Family and Friends - People are one of the very best things about life. Visiting home for the holidays is fantastic. I enjoy spending time with my parents and siblings and eating all the good food my mom makes. It's like an entirely different culinary planet when compared with what I eat in my rented room that doesn't even have a kitchen.

Nerdy Internet Projects - With the help of a friend and a lot of trial and error, I'm slowly continuing to learn the workings of the internet and expanding my ability to create things in digital space. Right now, I'm redesigning my personal website alltyler.com.

Photography - This is NOT a new hobby for me, but I took it to a new level this year by purchasing a digital SLR camera. I just had to after seeing the gorgeous scenery of the Monterey area, and my point and shoot camera just wasn't doing the trick. As it so happens, it's a complicated tool, and I'm really enjoying the process of learning to use it.
